01. Universal Peace Day at Kualalampur : (V.Purushothaman, News Reporter, Singapore )

Malaysia unit of Universal Peace Foundation celebrates Maharishi Paranjothi Mahan’s Jayanthi Day celebrations as Universal Peace Day on 11/02/2007 at Kala Mandapam hall, Scott Road, Brick Fields Kualalampur, in the presence of His Holiness Jagath Guru Mahamaharishi Paranjothiar.

In a world where cultural, Racial and religious beliefs often collide, Universal Peace Day aims to be a multi – faith event that transcends these seemingly insurmountable hindrances. It is the day of celebrating our differences as well as our joint concerns and aspirations for our versions of life and its harmonious nuances.

His holiness Jagath Guru Mahamaharishi Paranjothiar welcomed by 8 children with lamps in hand lit by Guruji.

Dr. Saras welcomes Guru Mahan and the gathering. Mahilir Mamani Datin Indrani Samyvellu light up the lamp by mark of opening the vizha and delivered her special address. In her speech she pointed out that the Thirumurthi hills, where Guru Mahan stays is a holy place like Himalayas and it is the place where eternal peace and everlasting pleasure spreads to the whole world.

Thiru. M.A. Sundararaman, General Secretary of the Universal Peace Foundation, India narrated the glimpse of activities of the foundation. Bharatha Natyam performance by Anitha & Rebeeca was received great applause from audience.

Guru Mahan appreciated the dance performance and explained the philosophy behind the Bharatha Natyam, its dresses, ornaments and Mudras. Guru Mahan honored Dathin Indrani by presenting Ponnadai.

In his spiritual discourse, Guru Mahan pointed out by quoting Bhavad Geetha, Upanishad etc, emphasis the motto, "Ondrae Kulam, Oruvanae Devan". (Mind is a temple, the body is holy Aalayam) "Ullam Oru Koil – Oonudambae Aalayam". He pointed out the ultimate aim of every human being is to attain everlasting peace, happiness and merge of all of it in a "Bliss of Eternal Entity". He said that this perfect understanding and realization of ones Self can be the permanent solution for all problems of any individual and humanity as a whole.

He said that one "Divine Noble Sole" , the sky response with rainfall for the entire humanity. Based on this noble concept, "Mahaa Sri Yogam has been formulated to make one percent of the world population as spiritually awakened souls for the welfare of the remaining population our earth.About 10,000 disciples all over from Malaysia & Singapore attended and received the Divine Blessings of Guru Mahan.

Pongal vizha was celebrated in Malaysia Lee Flower Farm by Tamil workers. They are celebrated pongal with traditional games.

Singapore Thamizhavel Narpani Mandram has jointly organised with Little India Varthaka and Marapudaimai Sangam ( Little India Shop-keepers and Heritage Association )Pongal Kaviyarangam under the leadership of Poet PICHINICKADU Elango at campbell lane, Little India.Poets, Thiru. Mahesh Kumar, Mu. Sevagan, Malarvizhi Elangovan, Thirumurugan and Thirumathi. Mathangi participated.
Minister of Trade and Industry Thiru. S.Iswaran, Chief Guest honoured the poets by presenting beautiful mementos. Large number of tamil lovers attended.

01. Anna Memorial Day— Kavicholai (V.Purushothaman, News Reporter, Singapore )

Singapore Tamil Writers Kazhagam and Pek Kio Inthiya Narpani Seyarkuzhu ( Indian Activity Executive Committee ) has jointly organised Anna Memorial Day Kavicholai on 03.02.07 at Cambridge road , Pek Kio communuty Club Auditorium.

The topic for the forum was "Aringar Anna". Paa. Thendral. Murugadian spoke on poetic grammar.

Thiru. Naa.Andiappan (President of the Singapore Tamil Writers Kazhagam spoke on "Annavin Kavithaikal" with his beautifully prepared slides on the basis of Anna’s life history. Audience were much appreciated his speech for the information given by him on Anna’s Singapore visit with rare photographs.

Prof. Dr. Maraimalai of Tamilnadu delivered spl., lecture on "Endendrum Anna".

Large number of tamil lovers participated in the function.

01. Festival of Indian Classical Music and Dance 2007 at Singapore (V.Purushothaman, News Reporter, Singapore )

  Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society has organised Festival of Indian Classical Music and Dance 2007 at Singapore from 3rd February to 18th Feb 07 at Singapore Esplanade Auditorium for the 5th successive year.

Several leading artistes from India, including the legendary Ustad Zahir Hussain on the Tabla, Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma on the mesmerizing Santoor, Ganesh and Kumaresh on the Violin, Unnikrishnan, Anuradha Sriram and Sriram Parasuram and Priyadharshini Govind are part of the 2007 Festival.

01. Thaipusam at Singapore Thandayuthapani Temple : (V.Purushothaman, News Reporter, Singapore )

Singapore,Tank road Sri Thendayuthapani Temple and Serangoon road Sri Srinivasa Perumal has jointly organised Thaipusam Festival in a very grand manner on 01.02.07. It is a very popular festival in Singapore. On the day of Thaipusam, devotees fulfil their vows in a 4 k.m., walk from Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple on Serangoon road to Sri Thendayuthapani Temple on Tank road. It is a thrilling and eye-catching scene to see thousands of devotees carrying Paalkudam, spike kavadis, chariot kavadis and Thaal Alagu Kavadis.
So many chinese devotees also participated in carrying Thaal Alagu Kavadis.Procession of Lord Muruga on " Golden Peacock Vahanam" within the temple precinct was held at 6.00 p.m.Chanting of Arohara by the devotees hits the sky.Last year the total number of kavadis was 7673. This year it will be more than this.Large number of devotees attended and received the devine blessings of Lord Muruga

02. Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore in Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple (V.Purushothaman, News Reporter, Singapore )

The Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore Prof., Jayakumar visits Serangoon road Sri Srinivasa Perumal Templeon 01.02.07, the Thaipusam Day and have Dharshan of Lord Srinivasa Perumal.Thiru. Rajendran,Chairman of the Singapore Hindu Endowment Board and the president and members of the Manahing Committee of the Temple welcomes and garlanded the Deputy Prime Minister.

03. Thaipusam at Singapore (V.Purushothaman, News Reporter, Singapore )

THAIPUSAM is a very popular festival at Singapore. Thaipusam atmosphere begins on 31.01.07 itself. Thousands of devotees were gathered at Tank road Sri Thendayuthapani Temple and Serangoon road Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple. Lord Muruga and Sri Srinivasa Perumal were decorated beautifully. At Srinivasa Perumal Temple, Lord Srinivasa was decorated very attractively on the Garuda Vahanam and blessed the devotees.
In connection with Thaipusam festival concerts and cultural programmes were also held. On 31.01.07 , Concert of Mdm.Paravai Muniamma,best known for rejuvenating folk songs in the Indian Film industry, was held at Little India,Ferrar Park grounds.Also performing are leading Malaysian folk singer Mr. Raja Raja Cholan and Singapore superstar Mr.Manimaranand his dance troupe.Large number of music lovers were enjoyed the concert. It was held on 01.02.07 also.

Silver chariot procession of Lord Muruga was held on 31st evening.

01. Chinese New Year celebration in Singapore : (V.Purushothaman, News Reporter, Singapore )

Singapore is get ready to welcome the Chinese New Year. Every house, shops, public buildings, Rly stations. shopping complex etc., are decorated with beautiful ornaments in the traditional way. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong inaugurated the fantastic Lightup function at China Town. Every day tourists, school children and public visited the spot and enjoyed the lightup. It is more attractive. 
The traditional Lion Dance is performed in the popular shopping complex daily and it attracted very much to the tourists and the children. and it will continue for a month. Most of the shops will remain closed during the Chinese New Year to celebrate the function. People proceed to the Holiday Homes and Tourists spots with their family to enjoy the holidays.

Under the leadership of Thiru.Pon Mahalingam ,Thiru.R.Pugazhendhi and Thirumathi.S.Muthulakshmi argued on "Veedae"(Home) ani . The arguements were very much attractive and enjoyed by the audience and received much applause.

Naduvar Thiru.Naa.Aandiyappan declared, quoting the life of the Father of Nation (Singapore) Dr.Lee Kuan Yew ,the President of India Dr.Abdul Kalam, M.G.R, Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan, that even though the basic point is home the country only uplifts and popularise them, therefore for an individual to excel in life is more supportive mainly due to Naadae(Country).

The Marshiling Branch of the Inthiya Narpani Seyarkuzhu ( Indian Activity Executive Council ) has organised Pongal Festival at Woodlands Town Gardens, Singapore on 21.01.07. Mr. Hawasi Deipi M.P., Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Manpower and Education was the Chief Guest. Thiru. Sethuraman, chairman.organising committee, Thiru.Rajendra Prasad, Thiru. K. Velayutham and other VI Ps welcomes the Chief Guest
Colouring competition, Drawing competition. Fancy Dress competition and cultural programmes were conducted. The Traditional preparing of Pongal was performed in the beginning of the function.
The Chief Guest Mr. Hawasi Deipi appreciated the activities of the Inthiya Narpani Seyarkuzhu and congratulates the committee members.

Large number of Tamilian families were attended and enjoyed the kid’s performances.

01.Sri Ayyappa Maharajothi Mahotsavam at Singapore (News Reporter, V. Purushothaman, Singapore)

Singapore, Marshilling Sri Ayyappa Seva Samajam has organised Sri Ayyappa Maharajothi Mahotsavam Festival at Sri Siva-Krishna Temple on 14.01.07

Maha Abishegam , Alangaaram and Archanai for Hariharasudan Ayyappan was performed in the morning.

Lightup of Maharajothi function starts at 7.00 p.m., with Ayyappa bhajan by Marshiling Ayyappa bhajan mandal. Beautifully decorated Swamy Ayyappan in the 18 padi (steps ) blessed the devotees. Amongst " Swamye Saranam Ayappa " chanting as chorus by the devotees ,hits the sky , the chief priest Sivasri. Gurumurthi Sivachariar performed the Maharajothi Mahotsava Maha Deeparathanai. The arrangements made by Thiru. K. Velayutham was very much appreciated by the devotees. After the lightup of Maharajothi, Prasadam was distributed to the devotees. Large number of Ayyappa devotees attended and received the devine blessings of Lord Ayyappa.

02. Sri Sadguru Theagaraja Arathana Festival at Singapore (News Reporter, V. Purushothaman, Singapore)

Singapore , Waterloo Street , Sri Krishnan Temple has organised Sadhguru Theagaraja Arathana Festival as Second Year, in a very grand manner on the Baghula Panjami Day—08.01.07 at the Temple.. Apsara Arts, Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society, Manu School of Arts,Nruthyalaya Kavin Kazhagam, Sabari Arts, Shyama, Temple of Fine Arts,, and Sruthilaya Arts were participated. Large number of artists played Panjarathna Keerthanais to pay honour to Sadhguru. Sri Theagarajar portrait was brought to the temple as procession. Hundreds of desciples of Sadhguru attended the festival.

The 16th Sri Ayyappan Pooja was celebrated on January 6 and January 7, 2007 at our Shiva Mandir Pluit, Jakarta Barat.
More than 150 disciples participated in this.

02. Pongal Spl Pattimandram at Singapore (News Reporter, V. Purushothaman, Singapore)

Henderson ,Inthiya Narpani Seyarkuzhu (Indian Activity Exec, Council ) has jointly organised with Little India Varthaka and Marapudaimai Sangam ( Little India Shop-keepers and Heritage Association ) a spl., Pattimandram in connection with the Pongal Festival , on 7.01.07 at Campbell lane, Singapore. Thiru. Gokula Balan welcomes the gathering on behalf of LISHA. Thiru Zahabar ali , president of the Inthiya Narpani Seyarkuzhu welcomes and explain the activities of the Association.

The Judge ( Naduvar ) of the Pattimandram was Thiru, Ve. Purushothaman.

The arguements of both sides was very much interesting and the audience responded with great applause.

Naduvar Thiru. Ve. Purushothaman declared quoting the life of Gandhiji, Silambuselvar MA.Po.Si., Kamaraj, Dr.MU.Va., M.G.R., and Rajinikanth, that the better approach for great success in life mainly due to show Veeram only.

About 3000 Tamil lovers attemded and enjoyed the Pattimanram. Vallal Appolo’s Chellappa honoured the Chief Guest and the speakers by presenting beautiful momentos.
