London Nagarathar Sangam

London: London Nagarathar Sangam is a social gathering of Nagarathar (aka Nattukottai Chettiar) families in and around London. Nattukottai Chettiars come from various towns and villages commonly known as Chettinadu concentrated near the popularly known town of Karaikudi in the state of Tamil Nadu from South of India.London Nagarathar Sangam was originally formed in 1974 to celebrate the Nagarathar religious festivals. Over the years the Sangam had grown and diversified with meetings and functions being held in various towns of United Kingdom and the Sangam was renamed as UK Nagarathar Sagam with very little activity in London. In April 2004 Mr.N.Thiagarajan of Kallal took the initiative to form London Nagarathar Sangam inviting families living in London to Lewisham Sivan Temple, London. It was agreed by all the attendee for ease of travel and to celebrate Nagarathar festivals locally to recreate London Nagarathar Sangam.
