Anbumani questions delay in filling faculty posts in govt. medical colleges
chennai: pmk president dr. anbumani ramadoss on thursday accused the tamil nadu government of deliberately delaying the appointment of teaching faculty in government medical colleges, warning that the delay could invite action from the national medical commission (nmc).ina statement, anbumani said vacancies in 34 government medical colleges had remained unfilled for over 18 months despite repeated reminders. the nmc's six-month deadline for filling these posts ends in november, he noted.he alleged that key teaching positions, including those in chennai medical college, continued to remain vacant because “individuals close to those in power” were eyeing these posts. doctors, he said, had raised concerns that the ruling dmk was intentionally prolonging the counselling process so that favoured candidates could gain the required qualifications and seniority.if the government fails to comply with the nmc's deadline, the colleges may face regulatory action, he warned.to prevent such consequences, anbumani urged the state to immediately issue transfer orders to professors who have already completed counselling and to fill all remaining vacancies by the first week of december.
