JIPMER opens Annadhanam Centre to provide free meals for patients and attenders

puducherry: the jawaharlal institute of postgraduate medical education and research (jipmer) on saturday inaugurated a dedicated annadhanam centre to provide three free meals a day to outpatients and those accompanying them, marking a significant step in enhancing patient welfare services at the institute.the facility was inaugurated by puducherry chief minister n. rangasamy in the presence of assembly speaker r. selvam, rajya sabha mp selvaganapathy, indira nagar mla a.k.d. arumugam and jipmer director dr. vir singh negi.under the initiative, meals will be served at two key locations — the old opd block and the women & children block — benefiting hundreds of individuals daily. the puducherry vallalar sabai will provide meals at the old opd block, while the puducherry arutprakasa vallalar sanmarka sangam will support meal services at the women & children block.speaking at the event, dr. negi said jipmer remains committed to addressing both the clinical and everyday needs of patients through supportive initiatives like the annadhanam centre. the service reflects the institute's holistic approach to healthcare and its mission to serve the community with compassion and dignity.
