Employment in India is not a problem, says Marwadi University's Provost, highlighting how skill-based education is transforming career prospects for students across the country today nationwide.
Marwadi Institute of Technology, established in Rajkot in 2009, earned the status of a university from the Gujarat government in 2016 following its steady academic expansion and consistent institutional growth.
Marwadi University adopts the Choice Based Credit system, and its curriculum is continuously upgraded based on guidance from education specialists and industry professionals. Eminent professors drawn from regions ranging from Jammu and Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Gujarat to Gangtok serve on its faculty.
What began with just 300 students has now grown into a vibrant academic community of about 17,000 learners drawn from across India, representing 26 states, along with students from 54 foreign countries. The university offers diverse programmes through its Engineering and Technology, Computer Applications, Management Studies, and Health Allied departments.
Each faculty member mentors about 15 students, ensuring focused academic guidance. The curriculum is structured so that not only research scholars but even undergraduate students can engage in full-time practical training and research work. A dedicated research centre is fully operational on the university campus.
From the third semester onward, all students undergo specialised training. Their skills are enhanced in line with industry expectations, while exchange programmes also allow them to spend six months of study at partner universities abroad.
Employment in India, he reiterates, is not a challenge for those with the right abilities. Students seeking jobs attain industry-ready competencies by the time they reach the seventh semester. Choosing programmes aligned with high-demand sectors is equally crucial. In Gujarat, for instance, graduates in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, and Civil Engineering continue to find abundant opportunities.
