Infosys prizes announced for 2023 in 6 categories

Chennai: Infosys Science Foundation (ISF) has announced the winners of the Infosys Prize 2023 across six categories: Engineering and Computer Science, Humanities, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Social Sciences. Each category winner receives a gold medal, citation, and a prize purse of USD 100,000. The laureates were chosen from 224 nominations by an international panel, and the award ceremony took place at ISF's Bengaluru office. The Infosys Prize, initiated in 2008, is the largest science and research award in India, recognizing outstanding contributions to scientific research and scholarship. Winners of the Infosys Prize 2023 in the six categories are:Engineering and Computer Science, Sachchida Nand Tripathi, Professor, Sustainable Energy Engineering (SEE), IIT-Kanpur; Humanities, Jahnavi Phalkey, Founding Director, Science Gallery Bengaluru; Life Sciences, Arun Kumar Shukla, Professor, Biological Sciences and Bioengineering, IIT-Kanpur; Mathematical Sciences, Bhargav Bhatt, Fernholz Joint Professor at the Institute for Advanced Study and Princeton University; Physical Sciences, Mukund Thattai, Professor, Biochemistry, Biophysics and Bioinformatics, National Centre for Biological Sciences; Social Sciences is awarded to Karuna Mantena, Professor, Political Science, Columbia University. The 2023 winners include researchers in air quality management, nuclear science history, G-protein coupled receptor biology, arithmetic geometry, evolutionary cell biology, and the theory of imperial rule.
