Puducherry: JIPMER will host the 17th Annual Conference of the Indian Hernia Society (IHSCON 2025) on November 28 and 29, bringing together leading national and international experts to discuss the latest developments in hernia surgery.

The event, organised by JIPMER's Department of Surgery, will serve as a major platform for surgeons, trainees and researchers to share knowledge on emerging techniques, technologies and evidence-based practices in abdominal wall and hernia repair.

IHSCON 2025 will focus on rapid advancements in minimally invasive, laparoscopic and robotic procedures. Scientific sessions will cover the full range of hernia conditions — from routine inguinal hernias to complex ventral and incisional defects — along with updates on mesh innovations, biological and hybrid materials, complication prevention, enhanced recovery, long-term outcomes and modern decision-making tools.

A highlight of the conference will be the live operative workshops at JIPMER, where renowned surgeons will demonstrate advanced procedures such as TEP, TAPP, eTEP, TAR and hybrid repairs. Pre-conference workshops on advanced surgical skills and abdominal wall imaging (RAD Wall) are designed to equip young surgeons and postgraduate trainees with essential technical competencies.

Scientific papers, posters and video presentations from across the country will further enhance academic engagement, covering biomaterials, biomechanics, recurrence patterns, patient-reported outcomes and new directions in hernia research.

By hosting IHSCON 2025, JIPMER aims to strengthen national collaborations and reinforce its commitment to surgical excellence, skill development and patient-centred care.
