Puducherry: Pondicherry University Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Prakash Babu has cleared long-pending promotions and financial upgradations for 95 non-teaching staff members, including retired employees, marking a major administrative push to strengthen welfare and career progression within the institution.

According to the university, the orders were issued through the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) and under the Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) scheme, addressing cases that had remained unresolved for several years.

Prof. Babu said the university's growth depended on the collective progress of its faculty, staff, research scholars and students. Recognising the contributions of non-teaching staff through timely career advancement was essential for building an inclusive and high-performing academic environment, he added.

The Vice-Chancellor also noted that the administration was taking sustained measures to ensure promotions and financial upgradations for faculty, officers and non-teaching staff in strict adherence to university regulations. Additional welfare measures are being planned to further support the university community.

The event marking the promotion orders was attended by Prof. K. Tharanikkarasu, Director (SEIRR); Prof. Clement Sagayaradja Lourdes, Director (CCR); Prof. Rajneesh Bhutani, Registrar (i/c); Prof. Lazar, Finance Officer (i/c); Lt. Cdr. Raj Kumar, Deputy Registrar (Administration); and other officers and staff members.
