Chennai: Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) organised a high-level Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Roundtable on the theme “Building a Secure and Sustainable Society,” bringing together corporate leaders, industry partners and academic experts to deliberate on strengthening community development through collaborative interventions.

In his address, RRU Vice-Chancellor Dr Bimal N Patel outlined the university's vision anchored in its 'TREE Model'—Training, Research, Education and Extension. He said the framework aligns with the national goals of building an Atmanirbhar and Atmasurakshit Bharat by focusing on key areas such as national security, cybersecurity, internal policing, and disaster preparedness.

More than 30 organisations, including ONGC, HCL Foundation and Tata Consultancy Services, participated in the meeting. Guests of Honour Dr Abhishek Lakhtakia, CEO of the Adani Foundation, and Ashwini Saxena, CEO of the GMR Varalakshmi Foundation, underscored the need for deeper industry-academia collaboration to address emerging security and developmental challenges.

Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain also attended the roundtable.

Presentations were made by various specialised schools of the university on areas including marine security and internal security management. Officials said the deliberations aimed at identifying future joint interventions, capacity-building initiatives and strategic partnerships to enhance community resilience.

RRU said the discussions will contribute to shaping new CSR models with greater focus on security-linked societal development and long-term sustainable impact.
