It will be surprising to know that Tamil Lullaby resembles

Korean National song. Korean national song ‘Arirang Arirang’, more than 600 years old which was in UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list twice has a great resemblance to Tamil Lullaby. This song is sung to tell the hardships faced.  Therefore, Koreans sing this song whenever they are in any difficulty either individually or in a group. There are thousands of variations and different versions.

From 2001, after getting the historical evidence by name Ayuthya and twin fish symbols, it was confirmed that Korea’s most respected Queen Heo Hwang-ok is a Indian Princess from Ayodhya (named as Suriratna) who travelled by sea to get married to King Suro in 4th Century, hundreds of Koreans visit India every year to pay homage to their ancestor.

At the same time, Professor Kannan Narayanan, a Tamilian,  who went to South Korea in 2008 seeing the resemblances of Tamil culture in Korea, starting lobbying that the Queen Heo (named Sembavalam) might have come from Tamil Land called Ayuta (presently Kanyakumari) and she is a daughter of Pandya Kong and tried to collect evidences to prove the fact.

In the recent research, it was found that Tamil Lullaby ‘Araro Araro Ariraro’ seems to resemble the Korean National Song ‘Arirang Arirang, Arariyo’.  Usually, the lullaby sung for children are short verses and woman sing about their hardships in the song other than telling the child to sleep. Arirang has the same concept.

In Korea, this song is sung with accompaniment from its traditional instrument called Janggu. Concidentally, this instrument resembles the Tamil traditional instrument called Pambai (bigger size of udukai or damaru).

These two evidences, the song and musical instrument Janggu drives the point that Queen Heo is in fact hails from Tamil Nadu.

It is to be noted that an MOU is signed to construct a memorial at Korea Park in Ayodhya for Queen Heo at a cost of 25 crores in collaboration with Korean Government.  Also a movie production agreement is also in process to tell the story of Queen Heo married to King Suro in both Korean and Indian Language.
