Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has announced centenary celebrations in 2,238 government schools across the state, commemorating Tamil Nadu's rich heritage and history.
Tamil Nadu, recognized for having the highest number of government schools in India, boasts 2,238 institutions that have been operating for over a century. The celebrations will be conducted district-wise to honor these milestones.
The government has emphasized the importance of involving parents, teachers, alumni, and current students in these events to foster pride and community spirit.
The festivities are set to commence today, with Minister Mahesh inaugurating the Centenary Festival at Thirukkuvalai Panchayat Union Middle School, the alma mater of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.
Celebrations in other districts will follow from tomorrow.
These events aim to highlight the legacy of Tamil Nadu's government schools while celebrating their contributions to education and society.
