Chennai: The CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute (CSIR-CLRI) announced its collaboration with M/s. Naser Bali (Gloves) Pvt. Ltd., a leader in high-quality leather and sporting gloves, to develop advanced leather and gloves tailored for extreme cold weather conditions.

This partnership aims to leverage CSIR-CLRI's expertise in leather science, particularly through the CHILLS project (Chemicals for Low-Temperature Applications of Leather in Strategic Sector), which focuses on creating leather products suitable for low temperatures, specifically for defense personnel in high-altitude regions.

Two technologies, the processes for manufacturing cold-resistant lightweight leather and extreme cold weather gloves, have undergone rigorous evaluation and are now ready for industrial transfer.

M/s. Naser Group, renowned for its quality craftsmanship and commitment to sustainable practices, will manufacture these products, ensuring they meet global standards.

The technology licensing agreement marks a significant step towards innovation in India's leather sector, bringing together scientific advancements and industry expertise.

This renewed partnership emphasizes the commitment to promoting indigenous products and advancing the “Viksit Bharat” initiative, reflecting a strong alignment between science and technology development and its practical applications in the market.
