Thiruvarur: The Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN) and the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday to enhance academic collaboration in legal education and research.

The agreement was signed by CUTN Registrar Prof. R. Thirumurugan and NUALS Registrar Dr. Lina Acca Mathew in the presence of CUTN Vice-Chancellor Prof. M. Krishnan at the university's campus in Thiruvarur. Senior faculty members, including Prof. Sulochana Shekhar, Controller of Examinations; Dr. R. Parameshwaran, Librarian; Prof. G. Ravindran, Dean, School of Legal Studies; Prof. S. Nagarajan, Dean (Academics); and Dr. S.K. Balashanmugam, Head (i/c), Department of Law, attended the event.

The collaboration aims to promote joint research, student internships, and faculty exchange programmes. It also includes provisions for conducting seminars, conferences, and the introduction of new elective and certificate courses.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Krishnan said the MoU would foster academic growth and innovation in legal studies. "This partnership will provide students with broader learning opportunities and exposure to advanced legal research," he said.

Following the MoU signing, Dr. Lina Acca Mathew delivered a special lecture on Bridging Traditions and Justice from a Constitutional Perspective: Child Sexual Abuse and Indian Knowledge System at CUTN's Department of Law.
