Chennai: IIT Madras will host the third edition of the Ministry of Education's 'Kashi Tamil Sangamam' from 15th to 24th February 2025.
This initiative aims to strengthen cultural ties between Tamil Nadu and Varanasi, fostering the spirit of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.'
The event invites participants from diverse backgrounds—students, teachers, farmers, artisans, entrepreneurs, women, and researchers.
A total of 1,000 participants from Tamil Nadu, divided into five groups, will join, with Banaras Hindu University (BHU) acting as the host in Varanasi. Notably, 200 Tamil students from central universities will also explore Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Ayodhya.
Coinciding with the Maha Kumbh Mela (13th January - 26th February 2025), participants will have opportunities for a 'Shahi Snan' and darshan at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
Themed on Sage Agasthyar's contributions to Siddha medicine, Tamil literature, and cultural unity, the event will feature exhibitions, seminars, and workshops.
Participants will also visit landmarks like Subramania Bharati's ancestral home and BHU's Tamil Department.
Following the success of its previous editions in 2022 and 2023, this year's event seeks to further revive the historical and cultural connections between the two regions.
Registration is open on the official portal: http://kashitamil.iitm.ac.in.
