NHRC conducts training for IFS Officers

News Delhi: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), India, organized a training program for Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers in New Delhi as part of the 14th Mid-Career Course (Phase III) of the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Dehradun.
NHRC Chairperson, Justice V. Ramasubramanian, emphasized the critical role of IFS officers in balancing development with conservation.
He highlighted the historical evolution of forest legislation, including the impact of the 2013 Land Acquisition Act and the 2023 amendment to the Forest Conservation Act. He also cited the T. N. Godavarman case (1995) as a landmark in forest protection.
Secretary General Bharat Lal underscored the transformative power of reflection in shaping history and policies. He stressed the importance of human rights and constitutional principles in governance.
The session concluded with a Q&A and a vote of thanks by NHRC Director Lt Col Virender Singh.
