Chennai: Chennai: BJP state president Annamalai has called on the Tamil Nadu government to maintain the current ratio of one physical education teacher for every 250-400 students.

Annamalai stated that the Tamil Nadu government has altered the ratio from one physical education teacher per 250-400 students to one per 700 students.

He suggested that this change appears to be an effort to reduce the number of new physical education teacher appointments in schools.

The recent education policy introduced by the DMK government emphasized the need to enhance physical education and sports skills in schools.

However, the party president criticized the government, claiming that neither the Chief Minister nor the Ministers have read the report from the Education Policy Committee, which he referred to as a political ploy. He alleged that two years of public tax money has been wasted on this committee, which he believes was formed solely for publicity.

According to Annamalai, the new decree deprives young aspirants of the opportunity to become physical education teachers in government schools.

He also highlighted that physical education teachers play a crucial role in protecting students from the increasing circulation of drugs, including ganja.

He accused the DMK government of issuing this ordinance to hinder those preventing the sale of drugs.

Annamalai demanded the immediate revocation of the order and urged the government to revert to the previous teacher-student ratio.
