Bathinda: President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday attended the convocation ceremony of the Central University of Punjab in Bathinda and urged students to uphold values such as curiosity, originality, morality, farsightedness, and spontaneity in their lives.

Addressing the gathering, the President said the convocation marks both the completion of one phase and the beginning of another in students' lives. She expressed confidence that graduates would bring laurels to their alma mater, families, and the nation through their contributions.

She emphasized that curiosity drives lifelong learning, while originality helps individuals carve out a distinct identity. Stressing the importance of morality, she said being a good person is more significant than just achieving success. She advised students to make choices based on long-term impact rather than immediate gains.

Highlighting spontaneity, Murmu said it manifests in various forms, including sincerity in words and actions, avoiding pretentiousness, and staying rooted in one's culture.

The President lauded the university's diverse student body, representing almost all states and Union Territories, along with its inclusive teaching community. She described this as a reflection of India's vibrant cultural ethos.
