Chennai: Sai University, Chennai, held its first convocation, conferring honorary doctorates on Padma Vibhushan Shri N. R. Narayana Murthy, Justice B. N. Srikrishna, and Dr. Krishnamurthy Subramanian for their contributions to society.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Narayana Murthy emphasized India's growing global role, urging graduates to work with integrity and contribute to national development. He called for strengthening governance, improving education, and positioning India as a leading global force.
A total of 58 students received their certificates, including 49 from the Daksha Fellowship program specializing in Technology Law and Policy, Disputes Resolution, and Law and Regulation. Five students earned LL.M. degrees in Regulatory Studies, while four received undergraduate degrees.
Sai University announced the launch of four new schools—Technology, Business, Media, and Artificial Intelligence—expanding its interdisciplinary approach. Vice Chancellor Dr. Ajith Abraham highlighted the institution's commitment to academic excellence.
Chancellor K. V. Ramani praised Murthy as a visionary leader, inspiring students with his dedication to India's progress. Distinguished guests included Padma Shri T. V. Mohandas Pai and Dr. Debashis Chatterjee.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. T. S. Gopi Rethinaraj.
