Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has announced that applications are now open for the prestigious Thanthai Periyar award for Social Justice 2024.

Since its inception in 1995, the award has recognized individuals who have made significant contributions to the cause of social justice. The honor includes a cash prize of ₹5 lakh and a gold medal.

The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu will personally select the award recipient based on their impactful work in promoting equality and justice.

Eligible candidates are invited to submit their applications, including a detailed resume and documentation of their contributions to social justice, to the Chennai District Collector.

The deadline for submissions is December 20, 2024.

This award continues to uphold the legacy of Periyar, a social reformer who championed the principles of equality and human rights.
