Beed: As many as 14 Zilla Parishad teachers in Maharashtra's Beed district have been suspended for allegedly failing to submit mandatory Unique Disability ID (UDID) certificates during a verification exercise of employees registered under the disability quota, an official said on Friday.
The suspension was ordered by Beed Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Jitin Rahman following a compliance review aimed at verifying the authenticity of documents submitted by 'divyangjan' (persons with disabilities) employees working under the ZP.
According to officials, the verification drive was carried out to ensure transparency and to eliminate any irregularities in the implementation of reservation benefits for persons with disabilities. The teachers concerned were found to have failed to produce the required UDID certificates within the stipulated time, despite repeated reminders.
The suspension orders were issued on Wednesday as part of disciplinary action for non-compliance with government norms, the official added.
Officials said the UDID system has been made compulsory by the government to create a uniform database of persons with disabilities and to facilitate easy access to various welfare schemes and benefits.
Further action against the suspended teachers will be taken after a detailed departmental inquiry. The district administration has warned that strict measures will continue against any employee found violating service rules.
