Bangalore: The Education Department has taken serious note of errors committed in valuating SSLC answer sheets and will be issuing show cause notices to more than 350 evaluators.

This was decided at a review meeting chaired by the Principal Secretary for Primary and Secondary Education R.G. Nadadur, said that several answer sheets were examined at the meeting and they found that the mistakes were conducted in totaling of the marks in the answer sheets and not in the evaluation process itself.

'Each answer sheet has several parts and each part constitutes marks. We found that the examiners had not given the grand total correctly and in many instances, not added marks of one part at all. Further these papers have to be cross checked by the Deputy Chief of the evaluation camp and this has not been done correctly either, 'the Principal Secretary said.

He also said that would be taking strong disciplinary action as the errors were 'quite blatant'. In case of negligence, an inquiry will be ordered, he added.

He further stated that the reason these errors were committed were still not clear as the SSLC exams: Over 350 evaluators may get notices number of papers, an examiner had to evaluate had been reduced to 20 per day this year, as opposed to 26-28 earlier.
