Kolkata: Describing the recently concluded student board meeting of the CEMS, a global alliance of elite B schools from across the world as a platform of cross-culture learning, IIM Calcutta Dean New Initiatives and External Relations Prof Uttam Kumar Sarkar said it was a great exposure for students.

"This is a platform of cross-culture learning which will give a lot of exposure to the 30 students representing schools from abroad," Prof Sarkar said.

Apart from taking stock of the situation around theglobe and what happened last year, the board meeting also had  a session with corporates from the city.

Incidentally, within a span of  nly three years into the CEMS alliance, the CEMS head office chose IIM-C to host the prestigious student board expecting about 30 students representing respective schools from abroad and about five staff members from the CEMS head office.

"This (meeting) will provide our students with an opportunity to receive the highest quality of world class exposure. At the same time, the entire exercise will widen the horizon of minds of all those who are involved in the student board," he said.

IIM-C formed an alliance with CEMS in 2013 with an aim to establish itself as a global institution and as a step towards becoming an institute of management of international repute.

CEMS is a collection of 30 European, Asian, Australian and American schools of business, about 70 MNCs and four NGOs.

Established in 1988, between Università Bocconi, ESADE, HEC Paris and the University of Cologne, it has now grown into a global organisation with participants from around the world.

As of now, CEMS has partnered only with IIM Calcuttaamong management institutes in India.
