Puducherry: The nationwide health campaign “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan,” inaugurated earlier in the day by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as part of the 8th Poshan Maah, was launched at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) here on Wednesday.

Chief Minister N Rangasamy presided over the regional launch in the presence of Speaker R Selvam, Rajya Sabha MP S Selvaganabathy and Indira Nagar MLA V Aroumougame AKD. The Chief Minister inaugurated the campaign kiosk at JIPMER's Screening OPD, distributed beneficiary cards and handed over Poshan packages, ABHA and PMJAY cards to women participants.

The campaign offers a comprehensive package of preventive and promotive services including general health check-ups, anaemia testing, screening for hypertension, diabetes, breast and cervical cancers, nutritional assessment, counselling, immunisation and referral services. It also integrates awareness sessions on maternal health, child nutrition, menstrual hygiene and family well-being.

JIPMER Director Vir Singh Negi said the institute would act as a regional hub for the campaign and remain committed to maximising outreach during the 16-day programme. “JIPMER will mobilise resources, expand awareness and deliver quality preventive healthcare to women and families across Puducherry,” he added.
