20 special teams comprising chief district educational officers (CEO) and district educational officers (DEO) raided 65 schools in the state in which complaints of collecting exorbitant fee were received by the directorate of school education
Many parents had complained that schools were collecting exorbitant fee, which a person from low income or middle income group cannot afford. 'Hence we decided to raid those about which we received complaints,' they said
'As part of the exercise, our teams raided 65 government, aided and private schools in the state. We are collecting details from the teams, but as of now with the details that we have received, there is some evidence of schools collecting more fees. On Friday, we will get a clear picture of how many schools had collected exorbitant fees,' the sources said
As far as the government schools were concerned, the director of school education would conduct a departmental inquiry and action would be taken against the headmaster of those schools
' For the private schools, we will disaffiliate them and initiate criminal action against them, ' sources said
