Chennai: Aspiring medical and dental students in Tamil Nadu have an opportunity to secure admission to MBBS and BDS courses for the upcoming academic year, with the state's Medical Selection Committee inviting applications through its dedicated counselling process.

The Tamil Nadu Medical Selection Committee, functioning under the Directorate of Medical Education and Research, Health and Family Welfare Department, conducts counselling for seats in government, private and self-financing institutions across the state.

According to officials, candidates must have studied Biology in Class 12 and must have cleared the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) to be eligible for admission.

Seats are offered under two main categories — government quota and management quota. The government quota includes seats in all government medical and dental colleges, ESI Medical College at K.K. Nagar, as well as approved private colleges and state private universities. The management quota covers seats in private and minority colleges affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, besides administrative quota seats in private universities.

The government continues to implement its reservation policies, including a 7.5 per cent quota for students from government schools, along with caste-based, special, minority and overseas citizen reservations.

The application fee has been fixed at Rs 500 for government quota seats and Rs 1,000 for management quota seats. Candidates belonging to SC, SCA and ST categories are exempted from paying the fee.

Applications must be submitted online along with necessary documents at https://reg25.tnmedicalonline.co.in/ugnew/. Authorities have clarified that separate applications are required for government and management quota counselling.

Further information can be obtained from https://tnmedicalselection.net/.
