Chennai: Australia will be the Country Partner at the Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet (GIM 2024), highlighting the strong ties between Australia and Tamil Nadu. The event, scheduled for January 7 to 8, will feature over 80 Australian delegates and an interactive pavilion showcasing business, investment, study, and tourism opportunities. The pavilion encourages attendees to take selfies with iconic landmarks like the Sydney Opera House. The Australian Country Session on January 7 at 2:45 PM will emphasize partnership opportunities, focusing on sectors such as education, research, advanced manufacturing, clean energy, and digital health. Australian High Commissioner to India, Philip Green, emphasized Australia's capabilities in driving Tamil Nadu's economy. The Australian Consul General in Chennai, Ms. Sarah Kirlew, expressed optimism about Australia becoming Tamil Nadu's preferred destination. The Australian expo pavilion will showcase the newly established Centre for Australia-India Relations (CAIR), promoting collaboration between the two nations. The Australian country session on January 7 will delve into why Australia is an ideal place to work, invest, study, and live. Western Australia, the State Partner for GIM 2024, will host a session exploring economic relations with Tamil Nadu. The panel, led by West Australian Minister for State and Industry Development, Jobs, and Trade Dr. Jagadish Krishnan MLA, alongside Tamil Nadu's Minister for IT and Digital Services Dr. Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, will explore economic opportunities through sub-national cooperation.Ms. Nashid Chowdhury, Investment and Trade Commissioner, India - Gulf, Government of Western Australia, expressed delight to enhance strategic and economic relationships between Western Australia and Tamil Nadu.
