Chennai: Chennai hosted the annual Epilepsy Conference, ECON 2025, from August 21 to 24 at The Leela Palace, bringing together leading neurologists, epileptologists, neurosurgeons, researchers, and allied healthcare professionals from India and abroad.
The event was organised by the Indian Epilepsy Society (IES) and the Indian Epilepsy Association (IEA), in collaboration with the ECON 2025 Organising Committee.
The inaugural ceremony, held on August 22 at the Grand Ballroom, was graced by former West Bengal Governor Shri Gopalkrishna Gandhi as the Chief Guest. The programme included lamp lighting, welcome addresses by Dr. V. Natarajan, Organising Chairman of ECON 2025, reports from the Secretary Generals of IES and IEA, presidential addresses, release of the official souvenir and books, and the Chief Guest's inaugural speech.

The scientific sessions featured plenary talks, symposia, interactive workshops, case discussions, and an epilepsy quiz, focusing on innovations in clinical care, surgical interventions, genetics, and public health initiatives for epilepsy.

Dr. K. Malcolm Jeyaraj, Organising Secretary of ECON 2025, said the conference “provided a platform for scientific exchange and strengthened epilepsy care and awareness in India.”

The four-day event attracted over 1,000 delegates from across India and overseas, reinforcing Chennai's position as a hub for neurological research and epilepsy care.
