Ghaziabad: The Delhi-Meerut highway was yesterday blocked by students of a private University here, who alleged that a fellow student of the varsity died of fever, due to 'lack of adequate sanitation' in the campus.
Superintendent of Police Rakesh Pandey said Abhishek Singh, a student of first year B Tech was suffering from fever. He was admitted to a Delhi-based hospital, where he died yesterday.
When the information reached the university campus, all the students gathered and raised slogans against management. They alleged that the student died as proper sanitation was not provided by the management.
They created ruckus and pelted stones on vehicles, damaged the ambulance and buses of the university and blocked the Delhi-Meerut highway.
They were enraged after receiving the information of death their classmate, police said.
The students also boycotted the classes and raised slogans against management to press their demands of pure potable water and other facilities.
