Chennai: Students seeking admission under the free education scheme in colleges affiliated with the University of Madras must apply within 15 days of the announcement of Class 12 (+2) results.

According to a statement issued by the university, the free education scheme has been in operation since the 2010-11 academic year to support economically disadvantaged students in pursuing undergraduate studies.

For the upcoming academic year, students can apply for undergraduate courses under this scheme in government-aided and private colleges affiliated with the University of Madras.

Students from economically weaker sections, whose family's annual income does not exceed ₹3 lakh, are eligible to apply.
