The Madras High Court has left writ petitions challenging the orders of the Anna University and official authorities by which the admission of students to the petitioner institutions for MBA/MCA course was not approved for the academic year 2008-09 on the stands of not attending the entrance test.
The petitions found a direction to the respondents to regularise the admission of the students to the institutions in the respective courses in which they had joined in 2008-09.
Responding to the petitioners of 20 institutions and students, Justice K.Suguna said, that she had no reason to accept the stand of the Director of Technical Education that since the students of the petitioner institutions had not attended the entrance test, their admission could not be approved.
M.Velmurugan, from petitioner's counsel, has raised a basic query to the institutions that when students who had secured zero and below zero mark in the entrance test were admitted. By admitting these students the petitioner doubts whether the mere attendance in the entrance test was sufficient for getting admission to the courses.
Justice Suguna said its a procedural irregularity had been committed. In the event of non approval of the admission of the petitioners/students, not only the institutions would be affected, but also the future of the students and the sanctioned seats would go waste.
