Chennai: IDP Education, a renowned leader in international education services, has demonstrated its commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by significantly impacting the lives of 165 young women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The organization has achieved this by providing crucial support for quality education and financial assistance. At present, IDP collaborates with two distinguished NGOs, Udayan Care and Foundation for Excellence, to extend support to 165 young girls. This initiative, initially launched in Chennai, has since expanded its reach to deserving female students in various locations across Tamil Nadu. These young, determined scholars aspire to excel in diverse fields, encompassing STEM, Law, Arts, and Medicine. They come from families with an average annual income of less than INR 80,000.IDP's 'Beyond Scholarship' initiative involves approximately 25 members of the company's Digital Campus team who actively engage with these students. They provide mentorship, guidance, and coaching, recognizing that education is not solely about academic achievements but also about personal growth, resilience, and the development of essential life skills for a brighter future. The program has allocated a total of 67 lakhs to both foundations.Tennealle O’Shannessy, CEO and Managing Director of IDP, holds this initiative dear to her heart as it plays a crucial role in breaking down barriers that hinder young women from accessing education."We take immense pride in championing the cause of education for young women in Chennai and beyond. IDP is deeply committed to making a positive impact on the communities in which we operate. Participants in our programs are encouraged to give back to their communities through volunteering, including teaching and mentoring younger children. Through our sponsorships, entire communities can benefit."IDP's Digital Campus team in Chennai actively engages with the communities they support, joining approximately 1,000 children in celebrating special events and festivities.
