Madurai: With increasing demand for science stream in Class XI, Kendriya Vidyalayas have been provided new guidelines to adopt while admitting students this academic year.
The Principals of KVs in the State were instructed that all eligible students should be sequenced based on aggregate of total marks scored in Class X and not on the basis of the aggregate of mathematics / science alone.
According to official sources, the Education Officer of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (Chennai Region), P. Devakumar, had written to the Kendriya Vidyalaya Principals about the procedure to be followed at the time of Class XI admissions.
The instruction said the guidelines have to be followed for Class XI admissions in every KV. Merit list has to be prepared from among the list of applicants and admissions will have to done taking into account the total aggregate marks.
According to the communication, fresh admissions for Class XI should be taken up only after accommodating the eligible students of the same Kendriya Vidyalaya who studied Class X in that school and then admission priority should be given to students of other KVs of the same station / nearby KVs and students coming on transfer from KVs elsewhere.
As per the instruction, fresh admissions for non-KV students should be considered from July 1 onwards.
