Puducherry: The valedictory of the Master Trainers Training Workshop (Phase II, Batch 2) under the Rashtriya Karmayogi Jan Seva Programme was held at Pondicherry University (PU)on Thursday, marking the conclusion of a three-day training organised from September 2 to 4.
The workshop, organised by the Capacity Building Commission in association with Pondicherry University, is part of Mission Karmayogi, the Centre's large-scale initiative to transform civil services into a more efficient, ethical and citizen-centric system. The programme aims to build the capacities of nearly 1.5 crore government officials across the Centre, states and local bodies.
Faculty members and non-teaching staff from several central universities in southern India were trained by lead trainers from the Capacity Building Commission and the University Grants Commission (UGC). These Master Trainers will in turn train faculty and staff in their respective institutions.
Speaking at the valedictory, Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University Prof. Prakash Babu said the programme is significant in reshaping the mindset of faculty and staff. “This change in mindset will help identify personality traits and instil ethics and values rooted in Indian ethos, ultimately enhancing public service delivery,” he noted. The Vice-Chancellor also distributed certificates to participants.
The three-day programme was inaugurated by Prof. Rajneesh Bhutani, Registrar (in-charge) of Pondicherry University. The UGC's Deputy Secretary Vinod Singh Yadav and Education Officer Dr. Kishor Kumar served as lead trainers, handling different modules prepared by the Capacity Building Commission.
Prof. P.G. Arul, Director (in-charge), UGC-MMTTC and coordinator of the workshop, welcomed participants and said the initiative was a significant step towards institutionalising professional development across universities. Dr. K. Srujana, Assistant Professor, UGC-MMTTC, proposed a vote of thanks.
