New industry-based courses introduced in DU

Delhi: Delhi University has signed memorandums of understanding with five different companies, Centum Learning, a Bharti associate, for a certificate course in telecom sales and service; with HCL Infosystems to start courses on IT and web designing; with Bird Academy to offer courses on travel and tourism, air fare ticketing etc; with Masscomedia to start the courses on mass communication, TV Production, photography etc and with R.K Films to offer courses on Radio jockeying and broadcasting, animation and theatre acting.
Centum Learning will conduct a certificate course in telecommunication sales and services. The course will entail two levels; level one and level two of six months each. Students clearing level one would be eligible to apply for level two. The course, which would be first of its kind to be offered under DU will address topical issues that the telecom industry is facing today.
The academic session would commence from July 2009 for which candidates would be selected on an interview basis. The certification of the successful candidates would be jointly done by DU and Centum Learning.
These courses have been specially designed, keeping in mind the development of employability skills of students studying with School of Open Learning and Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board. However, all students of Delhi University pursuing graduation or postgraduation in any stream would be able to apply for the course.
