New Delhi: BJP MP Ryaga Krishnaiah on Friday raised concerns in the Rajya Sabha over the declining quality of India's higher education system, warning that graduates are increasingly finding themselves unemployable.

Speaking during Zero Hour, Krishnaiah highlighted the growing mismatch between academic qualifications and industry requirements, noting that even highly educated graduates face unemployment due to a lack of relevant skills. “Education is the key to progress, especially higher education, which provides cutting-edge benefits. But the quality of higher education is declining and is a matter of concern for stakeholders and the nation,” he said.

He stressed that while India has one of the largest education systems globally, quantity has expanded at the expense of quality. To improve standards, Krishnaiah outlined the need for quality faculty, better infrastructure, updated curriculum, modern teaching methods, reformed examinations, enhanced learning resources, strong institutional leadership, and supportive government policies.

The BJP leader also called for diversification of higher education, combining public and private institutions, and formal, informal, and non-formal learning systems. He urged the government to urgently review and address the key quality concerns to enhance employability, innovation, and competitiveness among graduates.
