Chennai: Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister K. Kovi Chezhiyan said that the state government is taking steps to appoint 4,000 assistant professors in government colleges across the state.

He made the announcement while speaking to reporters after inaugurating the newly established Science Accessibility Centre at the Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre in Kotturpuram.

The facility, developed in collaboration with IIT Madras, aims to help visually impaired students learn scientific concepts through accessible and interactive methods.

The centre was inaugurated by former Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud in the presence of Minister Chezhiyan. The initiative marks a step towards inclusive science education and accessibility in learning for students with disabilities.
