Chennai: Governor R.N. Ravi highlighted the global resonance of Thirukkural's teachings, describing them as a timeless guide for humanity.
Marking Thiruvalluvar Day, Governor Ravi paid homage to the Tamil poet-saint at the Raj Bhavan on Thursday, adorned in saffron attire. In a heartfelt statement, he praised Thiruvalluvar's contributions to morality and governance.
“The nation honors Thiruvalluvar, the revered Tamil sage, with profound gratitude. Thousands of years ago, he gifted us the Thirukkural, an unparalleled guide for individuals and societies alike,” the Governor stated.
He emphasized that Thiruvalluvar, in line with Bharat's ancient traditions, taught devotion to God and upheld the highest moral standards in both personal and societal spheres. The Thirukkural, he said, provides a universal framework for virtuous living, transcending divisions within society.
While urging citizens to celebrate Thiruvalluvar Day with reverence, the Governor remarked, “Thiruvalluvar is not just a guide for today but for every day. His wisdom must be remembered and celebrated daily.”
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a devoted admirer of Thiruvalluvar, the Governor noted that the teachings of Thirukkural are now echoing across the globe.
The statement concluded with a call to embrace the timeless virtues imparted by Thiruvalluvar's legacy.
