Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government's initiative to provide free online training for competitive examinations has received overwhelming support from the youth, prompting the state to allocate an additional Rs. 1 crore to expand the programme.
Various recruitment boards conduct competitive exams for central and state government jobs. While many private coaching centres charge high fees for similar training, the state government opted for an accessible, cost-effective online model.
Training sessions are offered through a dedicated YouTube channel and mobile app managed by the Employment Department and the Anna Administrative Staff College. The initiative aims to ensure that aspirants from all districts can access quality coaching without financial burden.
According to officials from the Human Resource Management Department, the YouTube channel has gained over 5.06 lakh subscribers, and its 2,694 training videos uploaded in 60 days have attracted more than 5.77 crore views.
Officials said that in the 15 days leading up to each exam, mock questions and interactive sessions are conducted online to help students assess their preparedness. The government's additional funding will help enhance the reach and content quality of the digital training platform.
The initiative reflects Tamil Nadu's commitment to promoting inclusive education and equal opportunity for job aspirants across the state.
