Kolkata: Hailing the Calcutta High Court division bench order that set aside a single bench ruling annulling the appointments of 32,000 primary school teachers in West Bengal, State Education Minister Bratya Basu on Wednesday said truth has prevailed and the teachers' jobs remain “safe and secure”.
In a post on X, Basu congratulated the West Bengal Board of Primary Education.
“The jobs of 32,000 primary school teachers remain fully secure. My best wishes to the teachers. Truth has triumphed,” he said.
The division bench, presided over by Justice Tapabrata Chakraborty, said it was not inclined to uphold the single bench order, noting that irregularities had not been proven in all appointments.
The court observed that terminating the services of teachers after nine years would have a severe adverse impact on them and their families.
