Introduction:
This award is given for the 7th time by UNESCO to encourage research in the fields of life sciences in an effort to solve the global challenges of sanitation, safe drinking water, poverty and disease which are problems for quality of human life.
To add on, the Republic of Equatorial Guinea provides financial assistance of 3.5 lakh US dollars for this award. The fund is to be distributed to a maximum of 3 researchers.
Who can apply:
Individuals, organizations and non-governmental organizations engaged in research in the fields of life sciences with the aim of improving the quality of human life can apply for this award. In case of applying as a group, maximum 5 people should be present.
Applying:
Apply online in English language along with required information and documents. Information about the applicant's background, purpose of applying for the award, research papers and assignments should also be included.
Selection Process:
The UNESCO Secretariat will forward all eligible applications received by the due date to the International Jury. An international jury meeting in Paris will examine the applications. The Director General will notify the eligible person on the recommendation of the Jury.
Winners will be awarded at a ceremony hosted by UNESCO. Applicants through the UNESCO website should send their application details to 'INCCU, - Indian National Commission for Co-operation with UNESCO' by October 31.
