Individuals with chronic mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder etc tends to experience difficulties with emotion processing which can have a big impact on their social relationships. According to a new study published in British Journal of Clinical Psychology, participation in arts-based activities like Choir singing and creative writing benefits the emotions of both healthy adults and those experiencing mental health conditions.
Lead author Dr. Genevieve Dingle said, “The findings of this study are exciting because they clearly show the potential for participation in arts-based groups to influence emotions and emotion regulation in positive ways.”
