The central government has introduced the 'Prime Minister Internship' scheme to enhance skill development and provide financial assistance to the youth.
Overview
This initiative is being implemented across 742 districts in 36 states and union territories, with an estimated budget of ₹800 crores. The scheme offers over 80,000 internship opportunities in the top 500 companies across 25 sectors.
Training Sectors
Internship training is available in a wide range of sectors, including:
IT and Software Development
Banking and Financial Services
Oil, Gas, and Power
Metals and Mining
FMCG
Telecom
Infrastructure and Construction
Retail and Consumer Goods
Cement and Building Materials
Automotive
Pharmaceuticals
Aerospace and Defence
Healthcare
Manufacturing and Industry
Chemical
Media, Entertainment, and Education
Agriculture
Consultancy Services
Textile Manufacturing
Gems and Jewellery
Tourism and Hospitality
Duration of Training: 1 year
Financial Assistance: Trainees will receive ₹5,000 per month for 12 months, along with a one-time grant of ₹6,000. Insurance coverage is also included.
Eligibility Criteria:
Must be a citizen of India.
Aged between 21 and 24 years.
Currently not enrolled in full-time employment or education.
Students in online or distance education programs are eligible.
Should have completed at least higher education or an equivalent ITI course. Candidates with a Diploma, B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., B.C.A., B.B.A., or B.Pharma are also encouraged to apply.
