After finishing Class 12, a young man dreamt of designing airplanes. Driven by passion, he sketched aircraft models at home and later pursued a B.Sc. in Physics. He constantly asked his teacher about how airplanes are built and how they fly.

The teacher told him he should have taken up aeronautical engineering to truly understand aircraft design. Taking this advice to heart, he eventually shifted to engineering. That young man, who once wandered without proper guidance, went on to become the former President of India—Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

I too had aspirations from a young age. After completing my engineering degree, I joined the railways. There, I came across a book that changed my life—Agni Siragugal by Abdul Kalam. Every page was eye-opening and inspiring. That book set me on the path to becoming a scientist.

Those with degrees like B.E., B.Tech., M.E., M.Tech., M.Sc., and MBBS can apply for DRDO's Scientist Entry Test (SET). Successful candidates undergo training at the Military College. Only with dedication and tireless effort can one become a scientist.

DRDO also offers various short-term training programs. In Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh, significant opportunities exist in defense and aerospace. To tap into this, the Central Government, in collaboration with state governments, is setting up Defense Industrial Corridors.

In Tamil Nadu alone, 79 companies have invested ₹4,727 crore. By the time you complete your education, these opportunities will be ready and waiting.
