‘Single Girl Child Scholarship’ is provided for the higher education of the girl child under the Indira Gandhi Post Graduate Scholarship Scheme.
In order to achieve and promote girls education, UGC has introduced a Post Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child with an aim to compensate direct costs of girl education to all levels especially for such girls who happen to be the only girl child in their family.
Qualifications:
* Should be under 30 years of age.
* After completing Bachelor's degree, must have got admission in Master's degree in any recognized university or college.
* Must be enrolled in full-time course only. Scholarships will not be awarded for distance learning.
Who is eligible: Girl students without having any brother or the girl student who are twin daughters/ fraternal daughter may also apply for scholarship under the aforesaid scheme. In a family if one son and one daughter is available then girl child will not be considered for scholarship under the scheme.
Scholarship: The scholarship amount is Rs36, 200 per annum for two years. No separate stipend is provided for accommodation fees, medical expenses etc.
