Chennai: The Central Institute of Classical Tamil in Chennai is embarking on a project to translate 'Thirukkural' into 100 languages, seeking qualified experts for the task.

Located in Perumbakkam, Chennai, the Central Institute of Classical Tamil conducts studies, lectures, seminars, workshops, and translations on Sangam literature.

'Thirukkural' has already been translated and published in 36 languages, with translations into an additional 20 languages nearing completion.

Now, the ambitious goal is to translate it into 100 languages, prompting the institute to invite experts to contribute to this effort.

Chandrasekhar, Director, Central Institute of Classical Tamil stated, "We aim to translate 'Thirukkural' into 55 Indian languages and 45 foreign languages within 10 months, both in verse and prose formats. A budget of Rs 1.50 lakh has been allocated for each language."
