Chennai: Bharti Airtel has introduced an AI-driven spam detection system, offering significant relief to customers in Tamil Nadu.

Within just 12 days of launch, the system identified 112 million spam calls and 3 million spam SMS. Airtel's 29.8 million mobile users in the state automatically benefit from this service, requiring no additional downloads or setup.

Tarun Virmani, CEO of Bharti Airtel Tamil Nadu, emphasized the company's commitment to customer safety, noting the innovative solution is fully integrated into Airtel's network.

The system uses a proprietary AI algorithm to flag suspicious calls and SMS based on real-time analysis of caller behavior, message frequency, and other parameters.

The dual-layered AI system processes billions of calls and messages daily, while also alerting users to malicious links and potential fraud, thus providing enhanced protection against evolving threats.
