Chennai: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) hosted the Manak Mahotsav - World Standards Day program at Sri Sai Ram Engineering College today.

Held in collaboration with the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) Chennai, the event focused on the theme, "Shared Vision for a Better World: SDG 9 - Achieving Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure through AI."

BIS Director General Pramod Kumar Tiwari delivered the keynote address. Other dignitaries included Praveen Khanna, Deputy Director General (Southern Region), and Ms Nishat Sultana Haque, Deputy Director General (Laboratories). The event featured technical sessions on AI's role in sustainable development and discussions on Quality Control Orders (QCOs), regulatory measures ensuring product standards.

Competitions for students promoted awareness of quality and standards, with winners recognized by the BIS.

The event emphasized the importance of fostering a quality-driven culture through collaboration between BIS and educational institutions.
