Chennai: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Madurai, organized a two-day residential training program titled "Learning Science via Standards" for Science Teachers of BIS Standards Clubs.

Held on September 4-5 at SRM Hotel in Trichy, the event drew 54 educators primarily from government schools across nine districts, including Madurai, Ariyalur, and Thanjavur.

The program began with a welcome address by Shri S. D. Dayanand, Senior Director and Head of BIS Madurai, who stressed the importance of integrating BIS's 52 curated lesson plans into school curriculums. These plans are designed to simplify scientific concepts for students.

The training featured sessions on BIS's core activities, the BIS Care App, and the role of Science Teachers in promoting quality standards. Participants also engaged in discussions on lesson plans related to products like cement, LPG stoves, and pressure cookers.

On the second day, participants visited AMMAN-TRY Steels' manufacturing facility in Trichy, where they observed production processes and learned about the scientific principles behind product testing.

The event concluded with group activities and certificate distribution.

BIS has established over 10,000 Standards Clubs across India since 2021, including 344 in Southern Tamil Nadu, fostering quality awareness and consumer empowerment among students.
