Chennai: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) plans to recruit 50,000 personnel in the coming years, CISF Director General Rajwinder Singh Bhatti announced at the annual press conference in Chennai on Thursday.
Bhatti highlighted efforts to enhance expertise in Cyber Security, Data Science, Aviation Security, Anti-Drone solutions, and fire management. Domain experts will undergo advanced training to drive technological advancements within CISF and offer security consultancy.
Emphasizing women's participation, Bhatti noted that 8% of CISF personnel are women, with plans to increase this figure. Recently, an all-women battalion was established in Haryana.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend the 56th CISF Raising Day celebrations on Friday at Rajadithya Chozhan Regional Training Centre, Thakkolam, Tamil Nadu. He will also virtually flag off the CISF Coastal Cyclothon 'Surakshit Tat, Samridh Bharat' from Thakkolam.
With a strength of 2 lakh personnel, CISF secures 359 key installations nationwide, including airports, metros, power plants, and nuclear facilities. A special division of 300 young sports personnel is also being formed in preparation for the 2036 Olympics.
CISF's women's mountaineering team is set to scale Mount Everest in 2026. Solar power plants will also be set up in 16 CISF campuses, including one in Sivagangai, Tamil Nadu.
