Delhi: The International Conference on Communication and Dissemination of Traditional Knowledge (CDTK-2024), jointly organized by CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (NIScPR) and Gurugram University, commenced on November 13, 2024.
Held at Gurugram University, the event highlighted the significance of integrating India's traditional knowledge with modern scientific approaches.
Prof. Dinesh Kumar, Vice Chancellor of Gurugram University, welcomed participants, expressing optimism about discussions that would bridge Indian cultural heritage with contemporary needs.
Prof. Ranjana Aggarwal, Director of CSIR-NIScPR, discussed the national initiative SVASTIK, which promotes scientifically validated traditional knowledge. Through social media in 17 languages and published stories, SVASTIK aims to inspire young minds in exploring science rooted in Indian traditions.
Dr. Shekhar C. Mande, former CSIR Director General, emphasized the global impact of India's traditional knowledge, noting its scientific contributions in fields like metallurgy and medicine.
Prof. K.K. Aggarwal, President of South Asian University, called for interdisciplinary collaboration to preserve and share India's heritage worldwide.
The conference also featured the release of the Souvenir & Abstract Book and digital publications in Hindi and Punjabi, reflecting the rich scientific tradition of India's past.
